Design & Inspiration

In the great tradition of the royal porcelain manufactories of eighteenth-century Europe — Sèvres, Meissen, and Vienna — this magnificent lidded urn vase commands attention with the authority of a true palace centrepiece. The deep cobalt ground, saturated to the richness of lapis lazuli, provides a dramatic canvas against which scrolling gold acanthus arabesques sweep freely across the body. A hand-painted floral medallion — its bouquet of roses, peonies, and mixed blooms rendered with the delicate naturalism of Rococo botanical illustration — anchors the composition on the principal face. This is a Baroque-Rococo interpretation faithfully honouring the spirit of the great covered urns that once graced the mantlepieces and console tables of European royal courts.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The vase body is formed in fine ceramic, fired to vitreous density, and hand-decorated with polychrome enamels and burnished gold overglaze. The gilded brass mounts — perhaps the most distinctive feature — are cast with extraordinary detail: the twin scroll handles rise in sweeping S-curves adorned with cast rocaille leaf motifs, terminating in elegant curled volutes. The domed lid is crowned with a cast flame-and-leaf finial. Below, the vase seats into a fully articulated brass base composed of acanthus-scrolled aprons, shell-cast knees, and four boldly modelled lion's-paw feet — each a miniature sculpture in its own right. Every brass element is hand-finished, lending the piece its warm, luminous depth.

Dimensions & Details

Standing 35 cm tall and spanning 22 cm at its widest point (including handles), this lidded urn is proportioned generously enough to anchor a console table, mantelpiece, or credenza without overwhelming the space. The removable brass lid allows it to function as both a decorative accent and a discreet storage vessel. Weight: 4 kg — substantial enough to confirm its quality, yet manageable for repositioning. Available in multiple brass finishes to suit your interior palette.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every piece in the Brass & Wood atelier is produced by skilled Egyptian craftsmen who combine old-world European decorative traditions with the meticulous hand-finishing for which Egyptian artisans have been celebrated for generations. The cobalt ceramic body is painted by hand before the brass mounts are individually cast, finished, and assembled — a process that ensures no two pieces are entirely identical. Brass & Wood is proud to bring the grandeur of European decorative heritage into the modern home, crafted with integrity in Egypt.
