Design & Inspiration

There are objects that do not merely occupy a room — they command it. This Baroque brass and crystal covered goblet vase, rising to a commanding 47 cm, belongs to that rare category. Inspired by the grand Pokal drinking vessels of 17th-century Central European courts — those ceremonial covered cups crafted for emperors and princes — this piece faithfully reproduces the visual theatre of the Baroque era: exuberant, sculptural, unapologetically magnificent. Every curve and every gilded surface speaks of an age when luxury was a form of philosophy.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The body is formed from brilliant cut crystal, its surface animated by a dense radiating star-cut pattern whose facets fracture light into cascading prisms. Encasing and elevating this crystal core is a fully cast brass armature of extraordinary intricacy. The spreading base is a composition of bold Rococo acanthus scrolls and shell forms — each leaf individually chased by hand to reveal its naturalistic veining. Lateral mounts on the vase body continue the acanthus vocabulary, curling outward as organic brackets that anchor the crystal within the metal frame. The domed lid is cast with overlapping fish-scale and feather relief, crowned by the piece's defining sculptural accent: a rearing dolphin finial, its arched body and upswept tail rendered with the same fluid energy that animates Bernini's fountains. All brass components are hand-finished and polished to a rich lustre.

Dimensions & Details

Standing at 47 cm in height with a 17 cm width and depth, this luxury crystal vase occupies space with a sculptor's confidence. Weighing 4 kg, the piece carries genuine physical substance — the heft of quality brass and solid crystal rather than hollow pretence. Its covered form makes it equally suitable as a decorative urn, a display centrepiece, or a ceremonial vessel for formal interiors. The goblet silhouette — narrow waist, flaring mouth, domed cover — is one of the most eloquent forms in the European decorative canon.

Handcrafted in Egypt

Every piece that leaves the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt is the result of hands-on artisanal work rooted in generations of metalworking and crystal-cutting tradition. The brass components are individually cast, hand-chased, and finished; the crystal body is hand-cut and fitted. This is not mass production — it is a deliberate, time-intensive act of making. Available in multiple brass finishes to suit your interior palette, and customizable on request to meet specific design requirements.
