Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period (early 19th century), this corner table channels the aesthetic vision of Napoleon's court designers — particularly the iconic swan motif championed by Jacob-Desmalter. Three gilt bronze swans rise elegantly from a tripartite base, their necks arching to cradle the richly adorned apron. Festooned swag drapery in ormolu cascades around the frieze, while a central hand-painted floral medallion visible beneath the glass top adds a painterly, intimate touch worthy of the finest Parisian salons.
Materials & Finish
The framework is crafted from solid mahogany, finished to a deep, mirror-like lacquer that accentuates the warmth of the wood grain. All ornamental mounts — the swan figures, swag festoons, acanthus scrolls, and claw feet — are cast in genuine brass and hand-finished to an antique gilt bronze patina. The tabletop is fitted with a curved glass panel that protects the decorative surface beneath while allowing full visual appreciation of the painted medallion and gilded tracery.
Craftsmanship
Every component of this table is produced entirely by hand in the Brass & Wood atelier. Master woodcarvers shape and polish the mahogany body; skilled brass artisans pour, chase, and gild each bronze mount individually. The three-legged tripartite platform is reinforced with a central turned finial and rests on delicate bun feet, ensuring both structural integrity and period authenticity. The result is a piece that is as structurally sound as it is visually arresting.
