Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this column pedestal draws its authority from the Neoclassical vocabulary that Napoleon's court architects elevated to an art form. The soaring silhouette — a tapering gilt bronze shaft rising from a bulbous acanthus base — evokes the triumphal columns of antiquity, while the figurative ormolu panels depicting trophy vases, laurel swags, and foliate arabesques speak of imperial confidence and refined taste.

Materials & Finish

The pedestal is constructed from rich verde antico-style marble, its deep grey-green ground threaded with white veining that lends natural drama to every surface. Applied to the marble are meticulously hand-chased gilt bronze ormolu mounts — classical urns, floral bouquets, and chain-link friezes — cast from fine brass and burnished to a warm, luminous gold finish. The contrast between the cool stone and the radiant metalwork is the defining aesthetic signature of the Empire style.

Craftsmanship

Every component is handcrafted in Brass & Wood's Egyptian atelier by artisans trained in the European classical tradition. The ormolu elements are individually cast, hand-filed, and polished before being set against the marble.
