Design Inspiration
Drawing directly from the refined vocabulary of the Louis XVI court, this console table embodies the Neoclassical ideal: disciplined symmetry, Roman garland motifs, and a restrained elegance that replaced the exuberance of the preceding Rococo era. The continuous swag of flowers and ribbons cascading across the apron, punctuated by a central cartouche, is a faithful homage to the ébénistes who furnished the Palace of Versailles.
Materials & Finish
The frame is constructed from solid walnut, chosen for its fine grain and structural integrity. Every surface is hand-finished to a warm, deep mahogany-toned polish that highlights the natural character of the wood. The ornamental mounts — swags, bows, corner rosettes, leg sabots, and the egg-and-dart frieze bordering the top — are cast in solid brass and hand-chased to an antique gold finish, replicating the luminous warmth of 18th-century French ormolu.
Craftsmanship
Each console is assembled by master craftsmen at the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt, where traditional joinery techniques are preserved alongside meticulous hand-finishing. The tapered, fluted legs are individually turned and adorned with foliate brass capitals and sabot feet, echoing the vocabulary of the great French cabinet-makers. No two pieces are identical; slight variations in grain and patina are the hallmark of authentic hand production.
